International History Colloquium

« The Great Silk Road: Dialogue and Reconciliation between the Cultures of the Middle Ages (the travels of Guillaume de Rubrouck, 1253) »

When: Monday September 4th from 3pm to 6.30pm

Where: Conference Room of the Pavilion of France

During millenniums, the Silk Road was an exemplary place where all religions and cultures lived alongside one another in peace and tolerance. The safeguard of this multiculturalism remains a key objective today. The reconciliation and harmonization of international and interfaith relations are at the heart of the attention of researchers and the international community.

The 4th of September from 3pm to 6.30pm, the Pavilion of France, in collaboration with the State Museum “Center of reconciliation of cultures”, the UNESCO Bureau in Almaty, and with the support of the Ministry of culture and sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, organized a colloquium bringing together Kazakh and French experts around a variety of subjects. These will include the History of the Silk Road, its most famous travelers, and the past and future development of tourism on this mythical road. The speakers will be famous local and international researchers. Representatives from the Kazakh state administration and members of the French embassy in Kazakhstan will be present, as well as representatives from the private sector, international organizations and civil society.

The different recommendations and conclusions of this scientific discussion will be published in a brochure following the colloquium.
