International Specialized Exhibition Astana EXPO-2017 organizers have selected three sub-themes to present a comprehensive stocktaking of today’s energy, sustainable solutions and potential technological innovations:

Reduce CO2 emissions.
CO2 emissions can be reduced by developing low carbon-emitting energy technologies and reducing energy demand. Carbon storage and capture, renewable technologies production, use of hydrogen, development nuclear fusion technology, here are some examples of what will be presented, explained and experienced.

Living energy efficiency.
Energy consumption manner can be influenced by energy efficient technologies, education, habits, policies and regulations. Solutions and best practices for sustainable consumption of energy will be also presented.

Energy for all.
Energy is a basic need and right for humanity. It is “essential for sustainable development and combatting poverty.” United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
However, 20% of the world’s population lacks access to electricity and 40% still use biomass for cooking. It is estimated that $ 36 billion investment would enable the implementation of good installations for electricity and cooking around the world. Astana Expo 2017 will showcase the solutions that could be developed in the least electrified regions of the world, such as decentralized energy systems.
